Aprons-----again!!

Went to Becca's yesterday--she kindly took these photos for me:
This one is the Lilly apron for the shop sample.

And this one is for the sassy/flirty swap---now I can mail it today.

She also gifted me with my anniversary presents (4 months early, but she couldn't wait!!) Photos of those fantastic gifts will be added later (I have yet to take them!)

Another apron

does this mean I'm addicted??!!
Just finished another one--this one is for a shop sample. It doesn't photograph well without being on a body---maybe I'll remember my camera when I go visit Becca tomorrow so she can play photographer. It will probably look funny on me, since it's the new style for young things!!! However, her daughter is a young thing, so....

I have been going to my chiropractor for decompression treatments--after the second one (today) my back felt the best it has since I "bulged" my discs, so I'm optimistic that this will work! I'll know in a couple of months.

DH is gone, so dinner is whenever I have time---think that sounds good right about now!

apron swap news

Well, the apron is done for my partner--just need to pick up goodies to go with it. That won't happen until Tuesday when I have a day off.

Beelicious has an etsy store--cute vintage patterns and good stuff--check it out.

Tonight when I closed up the shop, a moose calf from last spring wanted to help. I could have touched him nose to nose if the glass in the door hadn't been between us! My sister in Minnesota said other ladies worry about criminals when they close up in the dark--I have to watch for moose!! He was very cute, grunting and looking in ALL the front windows. (I did not let him in!)

Picked up another cute apron pattern at the shop today--another sample coming up! This one will be easy---it was written by a quilter, not a seamstress!!

Almost forgot--we had an earthquake this morning--big enough to make the news in Minnesota--my sister called to be sure I wasn't buried under the house!!

This and that

not too much happening--The open house went well--not as busy as previous years (weather and roads) but very respectable!!

Went to Anchorage and back yesterday--didn't do anything fun there, either!

Check out the giveaway --it ends tomorrow.

Such is my boring life.... But Becca will be home today, so things may become interesting if not down right exciting!!

Hazardous

driving conditions abound!! We went from 30 below for 2 weeks to 40 above and raining on ice!!
What happened to a happy medium?!?

Our open house at the shop is tomorrow--don't think we'll have a very good turnout due to the roads. I went to the airport last night to pick up DH, stepped out of the car and fell on my right hip and elbow. Wish I could have seen myself--one looses all dignity when ones feet are above ones head!! My elbow swelled up so stuck it in a bag of frozen pearl onions--it's just been sore today.
Hopefully the roads will be good tomorrow....

My cute valentine apron is on a mannequin torso front and center in the shop---looks good!

Java jolt

needed to get my rear in gear!! I stayed up til 4 am reading a very good book--The Man Who Loved Jane Austen by Sally Smith O'Rourke. Total fiction but very entertaining.

This is a picture of Exxie--my faithful espresso maker.

I have things to do today, so what am I doing?? Sitting in front of the computer in my jammies with an Americano and it's almost noon. Becca would be proud!! I'm going to go now....(moving like a group of Mystics--watched the Dark Crystal last night!!)

January aprons

are finally photographed. They have been done for a few days, but I was waiting til I took pics of them to post about them. The red valentine reversible one is my prototype, but the pattern only comes in one size---and it is small---will have to see what size partner I get, as to whether this will be done for the swap. It is really cute and sassy and flirty---the other one is not.
On a more cheerful note---look at my weather widget!!! It is 27 above right now!!! Sing with me....We're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave!!

It's COLD!!!

I have been hibernating--it's too cold to do anything but the basics! I'm very thankful for a garage and remote start for my car!! Took DH to the airport this morning--he'll only be gone 1 week this time--he's changing shifts. The man child will be home tomorrow, so I'll only be home alone for one day. But he doesn't cramp my quilting style like some (who will remain nameless!!) do!
Speaking of which, I need to get out to the studio and get a prototype made of the apron I'm planning on making for the flirty/sassy swap. It will be very cute if things go according to plan!
Will also take my camera out.

Becca strikes again!!

She told me about a challenge May and Kris are doing---very doable and right up our alley--finishing projects. Check it out on my sidebar--click on the picture and join in on the fun! Also Hanne is doing it.

Sewing's not my thing!

at least not hemming jeans. I guess that counts as mending, not sewing. However, since DH spoils me rotten, I do mending for him only--do NOT let that secret out! I put in a jeans needle and used thick jeans thread and beat the thick side seams into submission with a hammer ( a tip from a dear lady on my WIP list) and still had stall-out in the seam--thot my machine would smoke and quit!! But DH is now the proud owner of a pair of jeans the right length (I hope--he hasn't tried them on yet!). And they only sat in the corner for 4 months!! :-)
He replaced two of my flourescent light fixtures in my studio that the ballast had died in with much better ones--hooray, I can now see up there. See, he is very handy to have around! I need to fix some rice to go with the beans he has had simmering on the stove all day--I think I'll keep mending for him!
