New Project

I stopped by the shop to deliver a teddy bear for a new shop display, and somehow walked out with the ingredients for the sample....hmmmm! It would have been a piece of cake, but the panel SHOULD be heavily embroidered. And since I haven't done that in decades, I couldn't find my hoops (imagine that!!) and had to buy a plastic one (that's all they had. Is that all that's being made now?!?) So I am embroidering the words and will try to keep from doing it all! I'll check with Pat to see when she needs it, but I hate doing things (except housework!) half way. So we will see.

Stashbusters weekend retreat

I spent alot of time "moving it up and heading it out" but don't have much to show for it!!
I started the daunting task of organizing my scraps-- this is just the strips and crumbs. The 2", 3", 3.5", 4", 5", and 6" blocks are in another storage unit!! I also made 8 placemats, still have 4 to quilt, and prepared the tablerunner for quilting. Hmmm. I see another day at least in the studio for the quilting and eons for organizing!!

I'm a Ditz!!

While in Anchorage last Saturday, somehow (it shouldn't have happened since my car will NOT lock if the keys are in the ignition, AND I didn't lock it!!!) the keys were locked in with the car running. We had just shopped at Costco and DH was loading stuff in the trunk. Disaster struck. So while I'm panicking, he says "Well, guess we'd better call Triple A." I then put my brain in gear and remembered that the man child had said when we got the car that the trunk would not be a good place to transport a kidnapped victim because they could get in the back seat. So I crawled in the trunk (this is a Subaru Legacy) and fiddled with a little-and I mean little!! latch thingy and voila!! the middle fell down. Now this space is about 8 inches wide. I scrunched thru and unlocked the door. I must admit I was rather proud of myself!! DH was wishing for the camera (which was in the front seat with my purse) and thankfully forgot about the camera on his cell phone!! But I will admit, it would have been a funny picture!!

1st Finished Quilt of 2010

I put the last stitch in the binding last night--it is now ready to go hang at the shop. It seems shop samples are the only things getting consistently finished around here!! The most difficult part of this one was cutting the border stripes length of fabric (and that wasn't hard, just tedious!) and machine appliquing the flowers on the black---I don't do machine applique cheerfully! I'd rather take 6 months and do it by hand, but I didn't have 6 months. But it is done and looks very gorgeous, if I do say so myself!!

Suprise visitor!

Becc! You didn't tell me Jer was in the state! He called and stopped by with more wonderful goodies from you. The coasters are fabulous and are sitting in a place of honor on my end table. I think I'll let the very anal DH put the clock together--that way the numbers will be placed EXACTLY right! The color is perfect. You are a sweetie--thanks again!

Another apron?!?

I have been happily sewing my fingers off and have a swap apron (Val's Cheap Hot Mamas) done and the binding for another customer quilt. The apron was made from stash. I had EXACTLY the amount of heart fabric I needed. Guess it was destined to be used! (Now I don't want to send it on its way).
