Quilt #21

is 36 layercakes topped with 36 charm squares topped with 36 2 1/2" squares all raw edges hanging out! Very easy to do. I think I'll have to fire my photographer--he cut the top of the quilt off!
I also just finished the binding on # 22, but that will be posted tomorrow. I have another one almost quilted, but won't make it for this year! (I DO have other things to accomplish!)

Quilts # 19 and 20

This first one is a Lake Clark Mystery in purple and teal--DH likes this one better than the one in red.
And #20 can't be seen yet--it is the mystery for the quilt guild retreat in Homer in February. (But I will say this: DH liked it!!)

Quilt # 17 and 18

The Christmas twin size was pieced at the Northwoods retreat in Homer this fall. I was smart and ONLY took this to work on. Halfway through I got bored and wanted to do something else but couldn't since this was my one and only project. See, I know how I am and wanted this done for THIS Christmas!! and it was!
And this baby quilt is a BQ3 pattern--the shower is just around the corner and I didn't have time to get more elaborate. I have baby girl quilts stockpiled, but there has been a flurry of boys born at church--no girls :(. And this one put me over the 100 yards used from stash for this year--barely!!

Quilt #16

This will be the last Christmas project I finish in time for use this year. If I don't wait til December 1st maybe I'll have the rest of the stuff done before Christmas next year. Or maybe not.....

Quilt #15

Another panel--this one will end up in my bathroom--I think!
Rats!! I hate it when the photo doesn't rotate correctly! Grrrr

Visitor

This year's bull calf was munching on my peonies and very photogenic!
(Notice our lack of snow!!)

Quilt # 14

This one is called Brit's Blitz --designed by Barb Steckel and FINALLY completed (only a few years after I took the class with her!) It is a mixture of quilting cottons and batiks.

Quilt #13

This is a BQ2 pattern--I HAD to have the focal, so to justify the purchase of MORE fabric, it is a wedding gift. Pretty good, huh?!
I did the quilting with Superior omni thread and the pattern is called Splash.

Quilts # 11 and 12

Since I can't hold a quilt and take its picture at the same time, two quilts that have been done for a couple of weeks will have to wait til DH gets home. But in the meantime, I have determined to start AND finish!!! some Christmas panels I've had in my Christmas fabric tote for I won't confess how long. The first one I did is this years and got me moving!

Quilt finish #10

This pattern is slide show--just didn't put on a border, so it's the right size for a baby quilt. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Actually I had borders cut and after I put the first one on, realized it wouldn't work and I'd cut up a yard of really cute fabric :(. And I know better--audition BEFORE cutting. So here it is!: The one on the design wall is now a completed top--onward and upward.....

Quilt finish #9

This one was also gifted to a baby boy in church on Sunday--I am now caught up !!

Design Wall Monday

This is on my wall, but I must confess, I quilted a couple of tops today instead of working on this--they have a deadline much sooner than the one on the wall!

Quilt finish #8

Gave this one away this morning--baby boy at church. His parents are dear friends (and she quilts!)
Pattern is BQ4.

Quilt finish #7

I actually have quite a few done, but not photographed, so think I'll work on that! This one is from Scrap Basket Sensations and is called Nova. I didn't put on the final border and used the tiny triangle scraps to make flying geese and my own border. This went together like a dream using a pkg of Bali Pops. I stalled at the quilting--the top thread kept breaking and I loosened the top tension til the nut practically fell off!! Finally remembered this happen once before when I had a bad prewound bobbin. DUH!! So then I had to fiddle with the tension again! But it turned out beautifully and is one of my favorite quilts--definitely MINE!

I'm Back!

Minnesota was wonderful (warm and LOTS of sunshine!) Had a fabulous time with my sister, niece, nephew and their friends. Spent lots of time on the beach on Silver Lake and just relaxing....and did NO quilting even tho I took some hexies to English paper piece. This is unheard of!! I took a vest class yesterday with Barb--very fun! When the project is complete photos will be taken. This is what I left on my design wall when I took off 3 weeks ago:
I've had this in my PIG (Project In Grocery bag) pile a loooong time. It is destined to be completed!

Flowers!!

This is what my flowers looked like this summer:
The peonies with the exception of the scarlet single are now done blooming and looking ugly and the one in the shoe is 10 times larger and covered in blooms. And the pansies have gone nuts!

All Good

The studio is ship-shape! (I did throw alot of fabric that needs cutting into "Bonnie " strips in the scrap buckets for later!) But it's not laying around looking at me any more. I feel so much better about myself!!
And I started a baby boy quilt top--hooray!

Day 2

of cleaning up the studio. When the boys were little and I got cranky, they would look at me and say "Just clean, Mom". Your kids know you so well! My brain was having trouble being creative and settling down to something--anything! so cleaning it is. Here are a few pics of my mess.
Today should see a new room!

Quilt #6

is at the shop. DH likes this one--Indian Motorcycle fabric and Michelle's pattern.

Quilt #5

is hanging at the shop--I named it 'LBD in Beijing" since it has fabric from the Little Black Dress line from Moda and an Asian print.

Quilt done last December

Just realized I hadn't posted this one cuz it was at the shop and I hadn't taken a photo of it! Oh, well, better late than never! It is a baby quilt and already has a new home--just waiting for the arrival of the baby boy.

Quilt #4

This was on my design wall post of March 3rd--all pertinent info is there, so I won't do the older person thing and repeat myself!! (i have told the girls in church we are not old ladies, we are "older"!) And on my design wall is another Lake Clark top in purples and teals. DH likes that one better.

Monday, May 5, 2014

Quilt #3

is made using fat quarters with a scrappy binding.
Spring is trying to arrive--we cleaned up the flower beds and the peonies, trollius and rhubarb are making an appearance- and the moose have already chomped and spit out my lilacs and peonies--dumb things! They do it every year--doesn't mama tell them anything?!??

Sunday, April 27, 2014

Quilt #2

The 43 Ugly Fat Quarter Quilt is done! Remember I had to change it to a scrappy trip around the world using Bonnie Hunter's instructions cuz the directions I was using made no sense to me?! Well here it is and even my DH doesn't think it's ugly!!

Retreating!

Will be at our church camp this week visiting, quilting, laughing, sharing and eating. Hooray! This is my favorite camp retreat--some of the ladies I see once a year here. The ugly 46 Fat Quarter quilt will be shown---the looks I got last year while working on it were priceless---but it turned out not so ugly! The challenge blocks were shown at the Fiber Festival last weekend, so will share a photo of the "Awesome 12somes"'s:
I think they are awesome!!

Here's where I've been....

and came home to snow!! (It has melted) On the third day there my Kindle and I were swamped by a rogue wave on Waimea beach...and I hadn't taken any actual books. So four embroidered flower basket blocks were finished, but I was having major book withdrawals! Amazon is replacing my Kindle but in the meantime I'm re-reading some paperbacks. I will be getting photos of the quilts finished shortly, watering plants, cleaning house (or maybe not) and QUILTING!! Was at work this weekend getting fabric and friend fixes. And so real life resumes.

My 12 inch quilt

for the Alaska Fiber Festival to take place in April, is this pair of owls. DH liked it so much, he wants me to duplicate it...hmmm, wonder when that will be accomplished since it's not on a deadline.....

Quilt #1

I really have been quilting this year--but more tops than finishes are being done. This one is now hanging in the shop.

Design Wall Monday

More Hunter Star blocks on the wall--the blue centers are painter's tape with position notations!
Henrietta is bare--the quilt that was on her is done as is a shop sample. Don't know why I waited to re tension her--probably cuz I thought i wouldn't be able to do it! The initial problem was a bad prewound bobbin, so it has left the building. I'm looking forward to hand binding the sample and watching (listening) to a couple of movies tonight. Haven't decided what I'm in the mood for.

Everyday happenings....

No photos yet, but the hunter star blocks are happening--LOVE the look of them and this method is so easy (and foolproof!) The bathroom renovation is s l o w l y moving forward. You have no idea how many times I've looked at flooring--it's not happening again, so it has to be perfect!!! But we've narrowed it down to two choices--same kind, different color. The shower base and panels will be ordered hopefully today; measuring etc. is done. Thank goodness we will NEVER do this again! (But it will be fabulous.) Am being urged to go get my Breakfast Bomb--peanut butter and banana--yum!

Hunter Star Class

was wonderful--here is my first block surrounded by others from the class.
Hopefully soon there will be others!

Design Wall Monday

Well, it's only been a month....!! Went to our guild retreat in Homer and actually did some sewing (unlike some others I won't mention by name!). This was our mystery--Lake Clark by Grace L. I love it and will be doing more of the pattern, which if you know me is not a common occurrence. There are too many wonderful patterns to try out and sew little time!
I did mine with Asian, batiks and Jinny Beyer fabrics. There were kids, brights, florals, and everything else you could think of and they all looked great. Just have the borders to do--and I am about a quarter yard short of the last border fabric, so it won't be a wide as called for---have to make do. And will bind it in the red. Still have to re-tension Henrietta---I am very good at procrastination!

Design Wall Monday

This is on my wall:
And this is on Henrietta:
However, they may both be there awhile--I am working on a group challenge for the Alaska Fiber Festival---fun, fun, fun!!!! And back out I go!
