March finish-cathedral windows

Here it is: my March finished project. This was one of the things I was working on in Anchorage. It is 34" x 45"--perfect for a baby crib--HOWEVER it is all done by hand, and I know of no baby that warrants that!! (I have no grandbabies!) By the way, it's name is Peeping Tom's Dilemma !! and every window is a different fabric. I started this one time we went to Mexico to have some handwork on the plane in 2004 or 5--didn't write it down and I can't remember!

Anchorage doings

Well, it was very relaxing, which is what I wanted!! Had great dinners out every night with DH, read 6 books, finished my cathedral window, got the binding on 2 sides of a king size quilt and spent one day wandering downtown--mostly wandering but some shopping did get done. I bought a pair of dressy work pants (Eddie Bauer) 3 long sleeve t shirts in black, bright orange and pea green (yum!) and a v-neck oatmeal colored sweater. Also three glass thingies to hang in my kitchen window--pictures of them will happen after DH comes home and hangs them--I don't tie knots in fishing line very well!
And now, back to Mt. Washmore--laundry does pile up!! Since I work on Mondays, the tradition of washing has moved to whatever day I can get to it (or feel like doing it!!)

Redoubt rumblings

Well, Redoubt is making life interesting--and he's being a royal pain!! The flights are a mess--DH finally got to work, and the man child back off the Slope as far as Fairbanks and got grounded--hopefully he is now in Anchorage!! This first picture shows the eruption in 1989-- we were covered in ash from that one.
The one at night shows this years --most of them have occurred at night. Here is another one during the day.

I only hope I am not out and about if and when we get ash--it's extremely hard on vehicles--paint job and engines!! I want to be snugly tucked up in my house.

Weekend happenings

equal working (or playing in fabric). We are redecorating the shop--quilts and bolts of fabric being moved and hung--very fun for me, since I am into both---decorating and fabric, that is!!
I am taking Monday off--am going to Anchorage to spend 3 days with DH. Company is sending him to a 3 day school, so I am driving up tomorrow night to join him. ( He's flying down from the Slope). While he's getting smart, I will be shopping, lazing, reading, putting a binding on a king size customer quilt, shopping, .....oh, did I say that already??!?I'll ask DH to bring his notebook, so I can keep up with all my favorite peeps. I'll have my cell, Bec. Hint, hint!!

Dinner

last night was spaghetti with Italian sausage. Actually, DH made the sauce while I was at work--I only cooked the noodles and added them to the pot, but it looks good on my resume'!!!
We took the whole shebang to a friend's place for dinner. They have 9 children and it's easier (and roomier!) to take dinner to them. We went for a walk after dinner--looked like a village walking down the road--and the older kids stayed awhile and sledded down a hill onto a lake. The elder and younger returned to their house because this wuss was freezing--I wasn't prepared for the jaunt (no long underwear on!!). The Mr. kept saying it was spring, but my legs didn't believe him! And it's NOT spring until the 21st! We had a great evening of fun, food, and fellowship.

It's stinking cold!!

My employer will be back from Arizona in 2 days---in the meantime, I was thawing water pipes in her house today with a hairdryer and a heat gun! How insane is that for March!!??? She lives in the city, so the water pipe runs under the driveway, which DH tells me causes them to freeze. (Ours never has--knock on wood!) The newspaper said running a stream of water the size of a pencil was recommended for those on city water the next few days. Oh, well. My employer's DH said I should now go get my plumber's license--I told him wait til he sees my bill!!

Clueless bird

This little red pole(sp) was sleeping on the bird feeder outside my bedroom window!! DH opened the window and messed with his tail feathers--he didn't move, so DH turned the bird feeder 180 degrees so I could take his picture--then he woke up, posed, and flew off. Silly bird!!!

This was the view

out of my kitchen window this morning! He is also the culprit that had me trapped in my studio last week. Looks innocent enough when they are young, but can't be trusted any farther than I can throw one! 2 seconds earlier he was smooshed up against the wall under my bay window. I think he was munching on the dead stalks of my bleeding heart plant.

Fabric mess

I pulled about 1/4 of my stash to arrange by color:
(no PIGS, batiks, bolts or flannels shown!!)

AND determined I have enough to last me til I'm 197 years old!! So I am now on a fabric diet--only new stuff will be for shop samples featuring new fabric lines. Now we shall see if I have ANY intestinal fortitude!
