This is a shop sample using a gorgeous piece of peacock fabric and it's friends.
And since it is blue, I don't know where it will eventually live, but the fabric is really pretty!

is a wedding gift--not my idea of a wedding quilt, but what the happy couple like, and after all, that's what it's all about---THEM, not me!!

This is a Dear Jane Spring Fling 2004 swap that I finally put together. This is my first attempt at a scalloped border and it came out perfectly! This one is for me!!

Flowers!!
These were delivered yesterday--DH is working and he always gets me flowers on my birthday! I had to email this photo to him so he could see how good he did!
I am going to friends for Thanksgiving dinner. I hope your day is good and you take time to thank God for all His blessings!!

Quilt finish #17
This has been a completed top since March 2012....but I have a few tops waiting to be completed!! Usually it is piecing the backs that derails the process, but sometimes it's not knowing what pattern to quilt. This fabric was gifted to me by my friend and employer and is from the book 6 halves make a whole. As you can tell by the title, there are 6 different half yard fabrics in this one plus the border.

Quilt finish # 16
This is the Dancing 9 patch on Bonnie Hunter's blog under the free pattern tab. I have been making 9 patches as leaders and enders and still have enough for at least 2 more quilts this size!

Design Wall Monday
This is all that's on my wall: two quilts are in the process of being bound and wonder of all wonders: 2 backs are pieced and ready to go!!!
These are leftover triangles from snowball blocks from one I'm binding now--we will see how big it grows!
Quilt finish #15
This is a jelly roll race with borders, and very bright! Becca gifted me with this jelly roll and since I have been itching to try this pattern (and I was at a retreat where I have been known to mess up the cutting of a Yellow Brick Road!!! (head hung in shame))I decided even I couldn't mess this up--and if I did, no one would know! And voila--it came out perfect! Of course I had to quilt it with hearts and there is even the word "Love" quilted on it!
I warned you it was bright!!

Still here
No. I'm not dead--just lazy!
Will only show this picture of one of my Minnesota adventures (which happened quite a few times!)
The other two beauties are my sister and her daughter. We stained millions of feet of tongue and groove--the house will be beautiful!

Quilt Fair ribbons
Woohoo!
Entered four quilt items in the Ninilchik Fair. My colorful rainbow purse took a blue ribbon, as did my tablerunner and placemat set. These were over the top for table items that will be used and abused--I custom quilted them and bound them all, but that's what got me the blue! Here are the placemats and napkins--no photo of the runner yet.
I also got 2 seconds--one for the hexagon shaped topper and one for this:
I wasn't gonna enter it, but my sister talked me into it--glad she did!
This was finish #13.

Geranium
This Martha Washington geranium is sitting on my front porch on the west side. She started out on the south and wasn't doing too well. Look at her now!!

Design Wall Monday
It's back up--Scrappy Trip Around the World from Bonnie Hunter's pattern that started life as 46 Ugly FQs. Had to make another block--and I don't think it will play well with the group. It is still here in the house, not on the wall. Here's hoping! I would like to get this put together and quilted in this life time!

Birds and bears and....oh, my!
Our little neighborhood is on bear watch...I check around before closing the door and getting too exposed before dashing to the studio! Last week a mama brown bear and two large cubs were helping them selves to my neighbors trash bags.
Of course I have no bear pictures, but this teenage robin was very cooperative.
Our weather has been wonderful, so yesterday a motorcycle trip was taken to Princess Lodge in Cooper Landing--I love their KPL salad! Then friends from church invited us to dinner--sushi and fellowship were both great. Hmmm. I wasn't in the kitchen yesterday.....
This lovely was found in the "back 40" and transplanted to my flower bed.

Design Wall Monday
This is on my wall--and there are two more rows of blocks finished that won't fit--it is a queen size BQ quilt from Maple Island. I need another quilt for my bed like I need another hole in my head, but I fell in love with this huge poppy print and "had" to have it! DH loved it too, (which helped--he's my enabler!)

Instead of Quilting
I've been doing a lot of this!! But up here, you make hay while the sun shines...and has it ever been shining!!
View from the turn out at the top of Homer hill. This was last week.
We started toward Seward today, but could really smell rain at Sunrise, so turned back into the sunshine. (We are fair weather bikers!!)

12th Finish
for this year. But I must confess, they have not all been quilts. There have been placemat sets with napkins (I counted the whole set as one, not eight!!!) and tote bags included in the count, but, hey!, they ARE a finish. (And quilted--the placemats were customed, too!)
This wallhanging is the pattern "Oh Henry" and used a panel--very easy. I quilted it with Parrot Highlights thread from Superior in the top and a purple bottomline in the bobbin. The binding was done in the car to and from Anchorage--in between photos and admiring the scenery!

Road trip
Made a quick trip to Anchorage to pick up a scroll saw DH scored on Craig's list--and had lunch with the DIL. The weather was great til we hit town--sorry the pics are thru the car window while moving, but you get the idea!!

Quilt for Uncle Wayne
is done--just needs to be put in the washer.
Whenever I gave a quilt to a new baby at church he'd ask where his was, so here it is!! I decided to quilt it using Omni thread by Superior and the panto " Chantilly Lace"

Shop sample
in the window. This is using the comma fabric line from Moda. Remember me belly aching about the 18 60 degree mitered corners?? Well, they turned out great. Kathy, a long arm quilting friend wanted to quilt it for me. I was hesitant 'cuz I didn't know how flat it would lay (and I didn't want her to think I was a rotten piecer!!) but she said it was good--only one side was a little friendly!
Pat is in Portland at Quilt Market, so I'm holding down the fort and making executive decisions! Actually, I'm rearranging, shuffling, and having fun!

Close to the finish line!!
I'm working on the binding of Easy Street!! (It's 105 inches square, so I'll be at it awhile.)
I'm anxious to put it on my bed. (DH: "How many quilts do we need for our bed?") Silly question!!!!

Design Wall Monday
This is on my wall:
It started life as the 46 Ugly FQ bargello quilt. And then it sat, all in strips til I saw Bonnie Hunter's scrappy trip blocks. So it morphed into these blocks--still have a bunch to put together. I was working on this at the crafter's retreat and ladies were trying to be polite and say something positive about them, but when I said they were 'sposed to be ugly fabrics, the relief on their faces was comical! I purchased 100 FQ sight unseen for $100.00 way back when I first started quilting----won't do that again!! DH thought the whole thing was ugly, but it reminds me of something our grandmothers would have done from their scrapbags!

Winner!!
Look what I won!! This T shirt was tie dyed by Vicki and she gave it away!!
( DH likes the fish!)
Her Etsy shop is full of her hand dyed fabric (which I couldn't resist). Since I'm computer challenged, the easiest way for me to direct you to her is: go to Vicki under My Blog List . She has tutorials and all kinds of fun and interesting things on her blog.
Thanks again, Vicki!

Annie
I was at a crafters retreat last week. I got lots of quilting done and a sweet young friend made me this! She sits on my sewing machine to keep me smiling.
(I have to keep turning Leo--he's 'sposed to be watching me, not Annie! But he is mesmerized by her beauty....oh, well....)
Just noticed the feet--some were not sewing but crocheting in comfort!

Design Wall Monday
I was at work yesterday, so, as usual, this is a day late. But that's better than being 7 years late---yep, that's when this was started and everything was done but the borders. Then 3 borders were added 2 years ago, and finally, Sunday afternoon, the last border was sewn on and all four corners mitered. Now, I ask you "WHAT took so long?!?"
I was gonna applique big flowers on the border as per the pattern, but have finally decided on a recipient for this one, and Uncle Wayne won't care if they aren't there!! (He will also get it a lot sooner!!) Now I have to figure out a quilting pattern.

Aaaak! It's started!
This is the view I saw after arriving home from my Bible study:
My bathroom renovation. My walk in closet door is in this room, so a sheet is nailed over the opening to hopefully keep all the nasty dust out, and DH is running a fan to blow it out the window (theoretically) !
I am so envious of Vicki! Hers is done!! This tiled soaking tub will be replaced with a shower, and our tiny corner shower will be replaced with a sink and vanity for DH. That means I won't have to share the one you see on the right, which will also be replaced. Oofta! Am not looking forward to the work, but will be great when finished. Thank goodness we have another bathroom!.This may take awhile with DH doing the work and his work schedule being what it is.

Design Wall Monday
The background fabric came in!
And two of the six sides of the inner border are on--5 miters to go! Also got the outer border today--6 more miters. I should have the 60 degree mitered corners down by the time this is done.....and then there is the binding!!!! That makes 18!!!!!!!!!!

Finished quilt
This one has been a PIG for a long time.
And I like the back almost as much as the front. This is the first time I have not had fabric left over--only partial strips!!
