Monday's Endeavors

were these three: I've done so many, instructions were not needed and I did them assembly line style. Also faster 'cuz they all needed the same color topstitching---black! The black and gold one is a gift, the turquoise is an entry in the fabric challenge for the quilt show this summer (the bottom fabric is the challenge) and the green and black---well, I couldn't resist--green bananas and black tiny polka dots!!! If you click on the photo, you can see them!!)
I am working on the hand stitching of a binding for a baby quilt using a new pattern--photos to follow......

Finish that doesn't count

for anything in Stashbusters, but counts as a finish for itself! This is also going in the shop, and after being quilted, doesn't look like it NEEDS the rest embroidered. (Thank goodness--HOW do you embroider after it's quilted?!?--I'm not fighting with thickness in a hoop and trying to pop threads in!! So there!)

Pressure

was on. Today at work I dismantled a display and replaced it with a new line we got in--Blush by Moda. And since nothing was created using these gorgeous fabrics, I whipped up another apron to have in place when we open Monday. (Photos will be taken of the shop on Monday for the Chamber of Commerce, so the wall could not be naked!) So tomorrow after church, I will be dropping this cutie off at the shop! (Doesn't my dining room chair make a great model?!)

Well supplied

DH went back to work today and left me well supplied with the other important things in life: coffee and food and time to quilt. Speaking of which, I'd better get off the computer and hustle my hiney out to the studio!!

Old UFO

is finished. Remember this, Becca?!? This one was started in August 2004 when 7 of us on the Dear Jane list did a block swap using Jennifer Chiaverini's book and her fabrics from Red Rooster. Since 7 does not a quilt make, I made two more and here is the result. This was also my first attempt at flying geese, and I think they really are quite stunning as a border (she said modestly--actually I mean the design element, not the execution!!). Then I had it assembled as a top one year later, and 2 years ago started to quilt it. I broke a needle and jammed it in the hook assembly, so off it came and languished until this week when I finally reloaded it and finished. Whew!! By the way, the fabulous Lamoyne star, top left, was the one Becca did. My contribution to the group was the hand appliqued center.

Demo

at our wearable arts group went well. Those in attendance were very excited about the ease and beauty of the technique, and I, as the demonstrator, was pleased. (Actually, it's a no-brainer!!) I showed them how to emboss velvet by using a rubber stamp. Here is Monti's endeavor.

It's snowing again--we melted all day yesterday and I hope this won't stay too long either.

Girl's Night Out

Last night my boss, Pat, and I took Nancy (co-worker) out to dinner for her birthday. Our first choice restaurant is closed on Mondays--major bummer. But we had fun, laughed and talked the whole time. On a funny note, as we were walking in, Pat realized her checkbook was back in her office on her desk---so I paid for dinner, and of course we razzed her unmercifully!! So I am now the youngest in the group--will catch back up with Nancy in November. We also decided to NEVER be old and frumpy (just older)!!

Koi Reflections

is done--3 years later. Oh, well. The man child is not impatient as he doesn't know about it!! It finished at 59x45. It will be this year's Christmas present. I won't be last minute as it's only March!! Go, me!! as Jan would say!
