#38

is from Bonnie Hunter's pattern, Dancing Nine Patch. Instead of scrappy 9 patches, mine are 2 colored, er, patterned.
This post is numbered 38, but I didn't include aprons, bags, etc. I finished this year. My grand totals are....(drum roll, please) Starts for 2015: 38 Finishes for 2015: 42 Hooray! I finished more than I started!! I am starting 2016 with only 23 WIPs---down from 36 in 2013 (my highest). We will see if I can keep up the momentum...don't hold your breath!

#33

is made from Moda 10", 5" and 2.5" squares sewn together with raw edges out, higgledy piggledy. The line is French General, hence its name: French General Squared. When washed a few times it will be all lovely and fray-y.

Friday visitors

I looked out the kitchen window and saw these two at the front door, so grabbed my phone and took pictures through the glass in the foyer. I'm sure the little bull won't be around when he's legal!!
And thanks to them, my pansies were cut back!!

Aprons

These two are in the shop--fun patterns!
I've been at camp for a crafter's retreat this week and was very productive (for a change!) The blocks for 4 quilts were pieced, a 5 year old started on hand piecing and much fun and fellowship was enjoyed.

Design Wall Monday and #32

#32 was gifted on Sunday without ever having a photo of it :( But it was a very happy, PINK lap quilt for a little girl who likes pink. Her older sister received a purple one that was made last year...or so... (I can't remember!). And this is on my wall:
It is the bottom half of the top before borders. The top half is put together already. This one will be large enough for my bed (which brings to mind the question DH foolishly once asked me..."How many quilts do we need for our bed?") Hmmpf!

#31

is the Seasonal Tablerunner by Judy Niemeyer started in November 2008. Another one that just needed quilting and binding. (By the way, I made twice as much bias binding than I needed! :( )

#30

is from a pattern called Brioche & Baguette by Modern Quilt Relish in the throw size.
The background is a dark rich gold--this photo is washed out looking! And its made of Batiks so what's not to love?!? I quilted it with Superior Omni with Bottomline in the bobbin. Pattern is Splash. All the fabric except the backing was purchased just for this one, so fabric from stash was very minimal :(

#29

is a tablerunner I started in Jan 2008 in an inset circles class taught by Jan Wallace. It just need to be quilted.....

#27

This fun little piece is from Bonnie Hunter's class a couple of years ago--most of the parts were done--just had the houses to do. Don't ask me why I put them away in a bag and left them for so long!! It is now hanging in my entry.

#26

This tablerunner has been languishing in a heap for exactly 8 years. It was pieced and I started the quilting and hated it--(I was attempting something new). Ripping was a nightmare---tiny stitches(I don't have a stitch regulator)so I quit. This is the year of quilting tops and finishing up projects--well starting on it anyway! So I bit the bullet, put in a movie (actually many) and ripped. Ta Da......done. This is a pattern from one of Nicole Chambers' book. Can't remember which one since I have 3!

#25

From M'Liss Rae Hawley's Fat Quarter Quilts, this one uses 7 hand dyed FQs. They came first, then the background fabric from stash also. This one busted 6 and 2/3 yards. The binding is 2 inch strips from the fqs. I love it when I have enough left over to do that!

Quilt # 24

This started life as 2 panels and grew with the addition of stash.

Quilt #23

From one extreme to the other......this one is 12" x 14", made from bonus triangles from # 18. I experimented with the quilting and have discovered I don't like doing tight, tiny stitching--I tighten up my shoulders and can't relax---ouch! Good thing this was so small!!!
Rats!! the photo is sideways--urgggg. The right side should be the top.

Quilt # 22

Finished this one last night--a queen size BQ, so it's on my bed for the photo.
Today I webbed the first few rows of Texas Tumbleweed as per Bonnie Hunter. The method is in her blog site under Tips and Techniques. Hoping for sunny weather tomorrow for motorcycle riding!

Design Wall Monday

This is on my wall--Bonnie Hunter's Texas Tumbleweeds. All blocks are done--now to put them together. they were done on my featherweight, but will be finished up in my quilt room on my Pfaff where I can spread out (and design wall is there, too!)

Quilt #21

is done and claimed by DS #1 and his DW. They both want it! It is a pattern from the book Singular Sensations. Made of batiks and the gray background is Moda grunge. DH had to hold it for me--it is rather large!

Sewing on the deck

is a sure sign of summer!! Please notice the thermometer reading is 78 degrees! Hooray!!! I'm working on Bonnie Hunter's Texas Tumbleweeds using Martha, my 1954 Featherweight 221.
Have a fantastic weekend--I plan on it!

Quilt #20

This one has been a PIG since 2005 when I saw the pattern in a magazine and started dreaming. I pondered it in my mind while riding on the motorcycle with DH the first summer we had it. And it is now --FINALLY done!!! (Sorry about the photo, but my holder/photographer is at work.)

Quilt # 19

Getting organized

Here's my cone threads--all up on the peg board. The spools and bobbins are all organized in drawers--now if I could just tame my scraps!

Sunday, May 10, 2015

Quilt # 18

This one is also from Scrap Basket Sensations:
Had a nice Mother's Day--both boys called and DH gave me a gorgeous flower arrangement and took me out to dinner last night. Today he fixed catfish---was just missing the deep fried okra!

Quilt # 17

This one is another "Nova" from Scrap Basket Sensations, but in a calmer colorway! I used the Bali Pops color Sparrow. DH likes this one, too. I think he just likes this pattern!
Also this week DH put up pegboard for my modest stash of thread--once I get them up, an "after" photo will be shared.
Had a fun day at work today and came home to a pot of Mexican soup--fabulous! Tomorrow I get to play again and come home to catfish---I do love a DH who likes to cook! (Just call me spoiled rotten.)

Quilt #16

This started life as a 5 rail quilt, but I found another yard of fabric that wanted to play, so it's a 6 rail! I made as many blocks as I could with the 6 yards, then added borders.
I have a couple more that need their pictures taken and have more that need quilting (imagine that!!). I spent last week at our church camp crafter's retreat and actually got 2 tops done and a third just needs the rows put together. That is a record for me--I like to visit!

Quilt # 15

This cutie is at the shop--free pattern from the manufacturer with the kit. It was well written and easy to do, and now I have another baby quilt in my stash. Or rather I WILL have later!

Quilt # 14

is a mystery Becca did in 2009. It was fun and I learned to step back and look at my fabric choices before cutting it up and going for it!! Here are the fabrics:
Here it is on the wall close up before sewing together:
And the finished product:
See what I mean?!? And I really liked this quilt--and had a blast doing it. Oh, well. Live and learn.

Quilt #13

was started in April 2005 (another Princess Mystery designed by Glenese) and quilted and bound in April 2015. I like even numbers and 10 is nice!! This one is huge--100 inches by 120 inches. I've never made a quilt long enough to do the pillow tuck thing so didn't know til now DH doesn't like it doubled on his chest, so it hangs on the floor in the morning. But it sure is pretty! (Green is Good) Glenese named this pattern Reflections of Joy, so this is Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!!:
The close up is the true color.

Quilt # 12

This is called Christmas Jam and made of Christmas scraps of which I have plenty. In fact, this made NO dent in my pile!! It is lap size.

Quilt #11

This beauty was also a Princess Mystery designed by Glenese and started in May of 2004. I finished it in March.
Sorry I couldn't hold it so all was showing--this sucker's BIG!!
